In case you missed it, here's what The 21st Century SAHM was up to in July, despite the oppressive heat and horribleness in the news...

Hey friends! July was hooooot and sloooow around here, but I did manage to put some words down in some places. Hoping August is cooler and more productive as we wind down and get ready for (gulp!) back to school. Here’s a summary of what went down in July. It’s mostly funny stuff with a bit of politics sprinkled in for good measure. Thank you for being here! xo

What I Wrote…

My rant about how snacks have taken over our kids’ lives and subsequently our lives (as seen on here my blog and on Scary Mommy).

A piece about teaching my kids to fight (back) and stand up for themselves (originally featured on Scary Mommy).

Do you limit screen time in the summer? Here’s my “policy” on that (as featured on Sammiches and Psych Meds.)

An emotional piece about Elie Wiesel, a champion for the oppressed and a fighter for justice (featured on my
“Isms and Social Justice” column on Sammiches and Psych Meds as well as The Huffington Post).

And another emotionally charged rant written in response to seeing Bill Clinton’s image all over media outlets the day after Hillary Clinton officially accepted the nomination. (I use some scary f-words like feminism and fuck in this one. This piece was also featured on my “Isms and Social Justice” column on Sammiches and Psych Meds.)

Other Good Stuff…

*I did Facebook Live twice in June and forgot to include the links in last month’s wrap-up, so I’m throwing them in here.

— On violence, mass shootings, specifically Orlando and how to process it all from a mother’s perspective

— On finding balance in motherhood in the areas of exercise, health, house cleaning, educational activities for our                  kids, etc.

*Thank you to the sites who included me on their funny parents lists! I was featured on Today Parents two different weeks: on July 29 and on July 15. I also made the funny list on Sammiches and Psych Meds, and Adventures of a Jayhawk Mommy!

*I ran Scary Mommy’s Instagram page for a day! What a great time and privilege that was. Please follow me on Instagram!

*And as always, please subscribe to my site so you will receive an email when I post something new!

Thank you for reading and being here!
